Bluebay Beach Resort lies on the beautiful, white sandy beach of Kiwengwa on the East Coast of the fabled island of Zanzibar, only 40 minutes from Stone Town and the Airport on a newly constructed tarmac road (last few miles on a rough road). The Resort's 88 rooms (will get bigger soon) and facilities overlook verdant tropical gardens with swaying palms and the warm sapphire ocean whose coral reefs offer excellent snorkelling and diving and also protect the bathers from the sea predators.

The Resort's palatial public areas and spacious bedrooms, all covered in 'makuti' or thatched roofs, are not authentic Zanzibari but they do offer a high standard of comfort and facilities. All rooms have a separate dressing room, en-suite bathroom two large four-poster beds with mosquito nets, air conditioning as well as ceiling fan, satellite TV, mini-bar, hair dryer and telephones. A private verandah accompanies the room and is the ideal place to feel the cool ocean breezes or to take sundowners in privacy. 8 deluxe rooms offer more space and a larger verandah.

The Resort's facilities are excellent. For the sporty there is a wide choice - a well-equipped and fully air-conditioned fitness centre, water sports centre, PADI diving centre, floodlit tennis and board games. The diving boat, ' Mantra', is well equipped and will transport you to some of the best diving grounds in the world. For those who only care to relax, a large swimming pool with sun loungers, an open air jacuzzi and the pool bar serving cocktails, coffee or cappuccino are all at the edge of a stunning beach. A baby pool, weekday children's club and a dispensary are available to those parents who want an extra peace of mind. A business centre, boutique and conference rooms are also available. Night entertainment includes an open-air disco and acrobatics.

The food at the Resort is of a high standard. The Palm restaurant offers international cuisine as per your meal plans while the informal Beach Restaurant specializes in seafood.
