Kinasi Lodge is a small lodge that offers a high standard of accommodation, cuisine and personalized service in a relaxed and homely atmosphere. The rooms are landscaped into an old coconut and cashew plantation and overlook Chole Bay on the south-east coast of Mafia Island, off the coast of Tanzania (south of Zanzibar & Dar El Salaam).

This is the perfect setting for sailing swimming, diving and snokelling. The coral reefs, bays, islets, sand bars and beaches are now part of the Mafia Island Marine Park. Fewer than a thousand visitors a year come here so Mafia remains very much a part of the traditional Swahili Coast.

The large cottages have been designed for through-ventilation and coolness in all seasons. Each has an en-suite bathroom and covered verandah furnished with hammock, chairs, bedside lights and reading lights. The rooms have fans situated within walk-in mosquito nets that cover both beds. The cuisine is a mixture of European and eastern with the emphasis on seafood, fresh local produce, grills and home-made condiments.

Each day Kinasi arranges individual programs for guests. Water sports, picnic excursions by boat or road, cultural tours to villages and historic sites, nature walks and bird watching are all easily arranged. Many choose to relax and do absolutely nothing - and Kinasi is the perfect place for it! Leisure facilities are many and various; you may dip into the excellent reference library or the azure pool, lazily watch the satellite television or a video or just enjoy one of the slide shows. At Kinasi you will only be bored if you want to be!
