NB: Safari Train runs on Sun, Tue & Fri. On other days, you will fly directly from Dar es Salaam to Ruaha River Lodge for four nights instead of three nights.

Day 1 Mikumi National Park

Tanzania Family Safaris On arrival in Dar es Salaam early in the morning, you will be transferred to the grand Safari Express train (Sun, Tue, Fri) with on-board showers to begin your Tanzania adventure. At Selous Game Reserve, you will be transferred to Vuma Hills Tented Camp in Mikumi National Park. Perched on a hill, the camp offers spectacular views and sunsets over the seemingly endless plains below. This remote park excels in wild dog and lion sightings. Day 2 to 4 Ruaha NP

After your early morning game drive and breakfast, a light aircraft will fly you to Ruaha National Park. This ruggedly beautiful park with mountains, rivers and vast plains is one of Tanzania's greatest wildlife parks minus the crowds. You will spend 3 nights at the family-run Ruaha River Lodge and enjoy exhilarating 4x4 game drives in search of lion, leopard, wild dog, cheetah and wildlife endemic to Southern Tanzania, such as sable and Roan antelopes. Day 5 to 7 Great Rift Valley

After breakfast, fly to Highlands Fishing Lodge, This is the only small, personalised camp in Mikumi and, set up on a rocky kopje on the Mkata flood plain, it presides over the best game viewing area of the park, the Mwanamboga waterhole. 'Camp fires and warm hospitality create a relaxing bush atmosphere against which to experience the thrill of being close to the multitudes of wild animals in timeless Africa.' Day 8 - 13 Zanzibar

Today fly to the idyllic Robinson Crusoe island of Lazy lagoon with nearly 9Kms of virtually deserted beaches. Lazy Lagoon FB

Day 14 Dar Es Salaam

Fly back to Dar Es Salaam for your connecting flight back home.
