Hidden at the foot of the majestic Sossusvlei dunes with a private entrance to the Namib Naukluft Park, Kulala Desert Lodge is the closest and most spectacular location to Sossusvlei, providing magnificent views od its famous red dunes, mountainous scenery and vast open plains. The camp comprises 14 stylish, thatched and canvas "kulalas" ("to sleep" in Oshiwambo) with en-suite bathrooms and verandahs. Each room is built on a wooden platform to catch the cooling breezes and has a deck on the flat rooftop where bedrolls can be placed for guests to sleep under the stars.
The main area, with décor inspired by northern Africa, has a lounge, pub, dining area, plunge pool and a wrap-around verandah overlooking the waterhole - a perfect location to view and photograph the desert vista. The overall setting is a true delight to the senses, bringing together the rhythm of Namibia, French cuisine and intimacy. The activities available leave guests with overwhelming impressions of the magnitude, solitude and tranquility of the desert. They include private tours to Sossusvlei, horse riding, hot air ballooning (at extra cost), scenic nature drives and game drives to view the desert's fascinating flora and fauna.
