For many visitors to South Africa, there is no finer way to see the country than on This relaxing six-day journey commences in the incomparable Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe and ends in majestic Cape Town. Between the two destinations is an adventure which includes 4 nights of luxurious accommodation on the train and one night’s accommodation off the train in a deluxe Pretoria hotel, with transfers to and from Rovos Rail’s private station in Capital Park. Off-train excursions during the journey includes an overnight stay in a Pretoria hotel, a tour of the historical mining town of Kimberley and a stop in the quaint Victorian village of Matjiesfontein before journey’s end in Cape Town.

The train journey departs on a Sunday from the Victoria Falls and heads in a south-easterly direction towards Bulawayo. Border formalities will take place at both Plumtree and Mafikeng as the train heads for South Africa via Zimbabwe and Botswana. We arrive in Pretoria at 17h00 on Tuesday where you will be introduced to our beautifully appointed station and 56 acre property. Transfer to your hotel for overnight. You may participate in an optional tour of the city or have the morning at leisure before rejoining the train at 15h00 on Wednesday.

The adventure continues on Thursday where we disembark in Kimberley for a guided tour of the world’s largest man-made excavation, the ‘Big Hole ‘and it’s supporting Mine Museum. Splash out & buy a diamond at source!

Next stop will be at Matjiesfontein on Friday morning. Your tour of this historic village may include a visit to the impressive museum on the platform, the motorcar and railway carriage museum, or a wander through the Lord Milner Hotel and its delightful grounds.

Enjoy the spectacular mountain ranges and scenic wine lands of the Cape as we head towards the Mother City of South Africa, Cape Town, cradled by the imposing bulk of Table Mountain, Devils’ Peak and Lions Head.
