Owned by Sir Richard Branson, Ulusaba Private Game Reserve is set in the heart of the Sabi Sands Game Reserve. This private game reserve borders on the sprawling Kruger National Park in South Africa's Mpumalanga province and is home to an abundance of wildlife.

The Perks of a Private Game Reserve

The Sabie River flows through this private game reserve and many animals regularly stop off here to quench their thirst. Lions, elephants, buffalo, leopards and rhinos are regular sights along the river banks and Ulusaba's five star safari accommodation offers guests game viewing at its luxurious best. Ulusaba Private Game Reserve is the ultimate destination for a Big Five safari in South Africa.
Because Ulusaba is located within a private game reserve, you'll be able to enjoy over 13 500 hectares of unspoilt, game-rich bush in near solitude. Experienced trackers and game rangers will accompany you on game drives in open Land Rovers, tracking the Big Five and sharing with you their vast knowledge of the surrounding wildlife.

Safari Activities for Kids

Cubs of all ages are welcome at Rock Lodge and will be invited to take part in Ulusaba Cub's Club, which offers a range of safari activities for kids. As Rock Lodge is small and intimate, and because we know each cub is different, we do not operate a set program, rather we have a set welcome pack and range of great safari activities for kids that are available on request.

On arrival at Ulusaba all cubs will be given a Cub's Club Backpack which contains lots of little goodies to help keep them entertained and to help to educate them about the African Bush. In every cub's room there will be a special welcome letter and a list of phone numbers they can dial from their room so it is easy for them to get hold of other members of their pride as well as the Ulusaba staff. Also for their safety, we have security guards on duty all night who will pay particular attention to rooms occupied by cubs.

Other Cub's Club Features Include:

• A treasure hunt to help familiarise themselves with their surroundings.
• Story books in their rooms and in the Lounge. These include old favourites and ones with an African or animal theme.
• Educational books in their room and in the Lounge that help them get the most out of their experience in Africa.

A great range of new and classic children's DVDs and videos that they can watch in the lounge, along with music CDs.

• We have lots of games up our sleeve and we always try to combine entertainment with some education.p
• Your ranger will be more than happy to spend time with your cubs to tell them all about the bush and the animals they see.p
• We regret that very young cubs (under 6 years) cannot participate in our regular game viewing programme and due to safety, cubs are not able to participate in Safari Walks, but we can arrange short excursions around Rock Lodge to spot birds, insects, lizards and so on.p
• We can arrange bedtime story telling in the Lounge complete with milk and cookies, or whatever normally helps get your cubs ready for bed! p
• On departure, all cubs will be invited to become permanent members of Ulusaba Cub's Club and will receive a bi-annual newsletter and a birthday card.

In addition to these safari activities for kids we can also arrange Cub's Cuisine if you wish, such as pizza, toasties, pasta etc. A free babysitting service is available, however please be aware that off-duty staff who have experience with children are used for this, due to our location we do not have professional child carers available, but with advance notice this could be arranged at an extra cost.

If you have a rather large pride with lots of cubs or if you'd just prefer it, we can arrange a set program of safari activities for kids provided we get advance notice - just let us know the ages and interests of the cubs concerned, and we'll come up with something to keep them entertained.

Lastly, we understand that every cub is different so if you want anything specific provided for your particular cub then please let us know and we will do everything we can to ensure their stay runs just how you want it to. Remember that all safari activities for kids from Ulusaba come at no extra cost, unless a charge has been mentioned above.

Many camps allow kids from various ages in malaria areas, please inquire.

Low risk for Malaria is in the dry season June through September in Malaria Areas.
