Delta and Rivers Special

This special showcases the waters of southern Africa, from the blue-green swirls and serene waterways of the Okavango Delta to the churning spray of the Victoria Falls. Finally, the luxuriant riverine forest along the banks of the Kafue River allows for outstanding wildlife viewing in Kafue National Park. All in all, these are some of the most beautiful and life-filled areas that southern Africa has to offer.

Short Itinerary

Days 1, 2&3: From Maun fly to Seba, Xigera or Jacana, Okavango Delta
Days 4 & 5: Fly to Kasane for Chobe River boat cruise; transfer to Toka Leya or The River Club, Zambia
Days 6 & 7: Fly to Lufupa Tented or River Camp, Kafue National Park, Zambia
Day 8: Road transfer to Lusaka – end of the adventure

Itinerary Details

Days 1, 2 & 3: Okavango Delta, Botswana

  • Explore the changing areas, stunning beauty and continually moving game of the Delta, largest inland delta system in the world.
  • Exclusive camps in the permanently flooded section of the Okavango Delta.
  • This unique wetland supports and sustains a huge diversity of wildlife making for outstanding wildlife and bird viewing
  • Diverse activities include day and night game drives, and nature walks.
  • Explore secretive channels by traditional mokoro or by boat.
  • This is fully inclusive.

Days 4 & 5: Livingstone, Zambia

  • Shaded boat cruise on the Chobe River, with lunch served on the water.
  • Tour of Victoria Falls, at 1708 metres wide the largest curtain of water in the world, dropping more than 100 metres into the sheer Zambezi Gorge.
  • Boating to the Zambezi River’s islands provides relaxed afternoon activities
  • The Zambezi National Park is located just across the river, and elephants can be seen on the riverbank.
  • Rich bird life is found in the area and hippos are regularly sighted (and heard) along the river’s edge.
  • This includes a morning tour of the falls and a sunset boat cruise.

Days 6 & 7: Kafue National Park, Zambia

  • Stay in scenic camps on the confluence of the Kafue and Lufupa rivers.
  • Explore the second largest national park in Africa.
  • Variety of activities including boating, game drives, guided walks and fishing.
  • Excellent predator sightings: resident prides of lion and leopard are frequently seen.
  • A wide variety of plains game to be seen, ranging from zebra, buffalo, roan, Lichtenstein’s hartebeest, sable, kudu, impala and oribi; elephant often seen.
  • Almost 500 bird species make this a birder’s paradise.
  • Dinner, bed and breakfast plus activities included.
  • Drinks, lunch and park fees excluded.
