Set on the western sector of the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park, Toka Leya Camp perches on the banks of the precipitating Zambezi River. Only 12km upstream from the world-renowned Victoria Falls, the camp is well placed for you to explore the scenic and vibrant region. Limiting our footprint on this pristine land, wooden walkways snake between the 12 spacious en-suite safari-style tents. You will feel safe and comfortable in your tastefully decorated room with an expansive wooden deck looking out at the mighty river – often presenting the sight of rambling elephants, grunting pods of hippo and idle crocodiles. Under a canopy of shady trees, the camp's dining, lounge and bar areas offer ample space for you to relax, complete with an infinity pool.
Did you know?
- Toka Leya has a worm farm and indigenous nursery so as to rehabilitate the plant species of the area.
- The densely vegetated islands in front of camp form part of the braided channel of the Zambezi River.
- 'Mosi-oa-Tunya' is the local name for Victoria Falls, literally meaning 'the smoke that thunders' which accurately describes the rising spray that can be seen 30km away.
- Additional activities on offer include guided walks and adventure pursuits.
- The park offers wildlife viewing of buffalo, giraffe, zebra, impala and white rhino.
- The prolific bird life includes the African Finfoot, a rarity elsewhere, yet here a resident.

Built under a grove of mangosteen trees overlooking the Linyanti Marsh, DumaTau means 'roar of the lion', often heard from the safety of camp. Watch large herds of elephant passing by from the safety of our swing-bed sala, our swimming pool or our open deck; or settle into the dining room or lounge for a meal or a drink. Connecting the main area by elevated wooden walkways, make your way to one of ten thatched en-suite tents and take a shower under the African skies. With easy access to myriad habitats, you can look forward to excellent wildlife viewing all year round.
Did you know?
- DumaTau is involved in elephant research and the possible impact that large herds have on the vegetation and other animal species.
- The camp lies in close proximity to the Linyanti River, the drier mopane woodlands and the Savute Channel; the latter being famous as a sporadic and unusual watercourse.
- The activities on offer are day and night game drives, guided walks and seasonal boating. Nearby platforms and hides also present excellent wildlife opportunities.
- Large elephant herds usually traverse the area, as well as red lechwe, zebra, giraffe, lion, leopard, cheetah, wild dog and spotted hyaena.
- DumaTau is a birder's paradise. The area has been internationally recognised as an IBA (Important Bird Area).

This intimate tented camp situated on its own small well-treed island is a perennial favourite among Wilderness travellers. On arrival the staff will welcome you into one of the six large tented rooms. As with the main area, each tent is shaded by giant ebony trees and looks out onto the surrounding floodplains. A raised library, cosy lounge and rustic bar provide shaded relaxation during the day in between activities and convivial atmosphere at night. The star-deck is the ideal platform for appreciation of the night sky and the varied activities on offer allow consistently good game viewing. There is little doubt that Little Vumbura provides the quintessential Okavango experience.
Did you know?
- Little Vumbura is part of a ground-breaking partnership that brings the benefits of ecotourism to five rural villages.
- The concession is hugely diverse with floodplains, wooded islands, mopane woodland and Okavango waterways.
- You can explore the varied habitats by open 4x4 vehicle (day and night), boat, mokoro, or on foot.
- Woodland-loving antelope like sable and kudu roam side by side with water-loving red lechwe and reedbuck. The diversity of prey species results in a wide variety of predators: from lion and spotted hyaena, to leopard, and occasionally cheetah and wild dog.
- The diversity is a boon for keen birders with Rosy-throated Longclaw, Black Coucal and Wattled Crane.
