Famed for its vast tree-less grasslands and excellent wildlife sightings, the endless open plains
of the magnificent Serengeti National Park boast 35 species of plains-dwelling game and prolific
birdlife.
&Beyond Grumeti Serengeti Tented Camp is set in the remote western reaches of the Park,
on a bywater of the Grumeti River, known for its wildebeest crossings and enormous Nile
crocodiles. Tucked into a strip of riverine forest, guests thrill to the antics of resident hippo
and spectacular pied colobus monkeys (found nowhere else in the Serengeti).
Every year in June and July, Africa's annual Great Migration passes through Grumeti, and
hundreds upon thousands of wildebeest, zebra and other herbivores cross the Grumeti River,
risking the jaws of some of Africa's largest crocodiles.

About the camp
Vibrant and rejuvenating, &Beyond Grumeti Serengeti Tented Camp lies among tall evergreen trees right at the water's edge. A wild
and remote experience in the thick of the resident game, it is the perfect vantage point for one of the most famous fording points
of the wildebeest migration. The whimsical sweep of flamboyant safari tents hides a blaze of colour in the delightful interiors, with
quirky touches and tongue-in-cheek surprises. Al fresco showers are open to the sun and stars, while the calls of hippo provide a nightly
serenade. Traditional jikos (fires) and outdoor ovens produce mouthwatering aromas and dinner under a billion stars. Intimate guest
areas boast colourful open-fronted sitting and dining areas and domed bar, all adorned with Yoruba beaded artefacts. The spacious
decks are perfect for sundowners overlooking the river, and romantic private dinners at the swimming pool can be arranged for any
special occasion.
