The River Club - Victoria Falls National Park, Zambia

The River Club is a tranquil oasis on Zambia’s mighty Zambezi River and the perfect location for a visit to the renowned Victoria Falls - a World Heritage Site and one of the 7 Natural Wonders of the World.

Located a short distance from the historical town of Livingstone, The River Club forms a perfect end to a safari circuit in Southern or East Africa.

A host of activities await young and old, on property as well as around the Victoria Falls.

Accommodation

The eleven private and spacious suites are individually set within magnificent trees on the edge of the Zambezi River, overlooking pods of hippo into the Zambezi National Park. All are west facing and take advantage of the spectacular African sunsets. The rooms are named after people who in their day played a special part in the history of the country.

Activities

The lodge is set on a 50 acre secure property with manicured gardens, where one can completely relax.

Here there are no early wake up calls, for here guests are encouraged to lie in and enjoy the surroundings. The ‘Do Nothing Activity’ (DNA) around one of the most magnificent pools in the world is very popular, especially at the end of a safari!

A magnificent rim flow swimmingpool, pool loungers, private deck and hammocks complete the setting.

An all-weather hard tennis court and a central croquet lawn and a 2km nature trail that can also be used as a running track for those who need to keep fitness levels topped up.

Additional Activities

The following additional activities can be arranged by The River Club:

• Helicopter Flights over the Falls
Particularly for those who wish to take photographs to keep forever, the helicopter ‘Flights of Angels’ is a must for those who want to see The Falls from the best position possible – right over the gorge that it plunges into!

• Microlight Flight over the Falls
For the same awe-inspiring perspective of the Falls with more of a thrill, try microlighting. A camera fixed to the wing will take photographs for you.

• White Water Rafting
This affords possibly the most adrenalin, fun-filled day you will ever have! No persons under 15 are allowed to raft and although no particular level of fitness is required, you are warned about the 750 foot climb out of the gorge. Persons with any medical or physical problems must make these known to us before we make the booking.

• River Boarding

• Jet Boating
45 minutes on an extreme boat ride around rapids 23 to 26. Why not combine it with a rafting trip and a helicopter flight?

• Livingstone Island Excursion
David Livingstone first viewed the Falls from this island on the lip of the world’s widest waterfall. A swim in the Devil’s Pool, right on the edge of the Falls themselves, prove to be a highlight of this excursion!

• Canoeing Safaris
Canoeing the Upper Zambezi above The Falls is a lovely way to spend a day. It will give you a bit of exercise and the chance to paddle quietly past some game. Take a hat and plenty of sunscreen.

• Quad Biking
A drive into the town of Livingstone provides for some great family fun. Children aged 12 years and older welcome.

• Elephant Back Safari
See the world from a different perspective - on the back of an elephant! Children aged 10 years and older welcome.
