Moremi Under Canvas
Moremi Game Reserve, Okavango Delta, Botswana - Adventure 3
&Beyond Moremi Under Canvas introduces guests to the natural wilderness highlights of Moremi Game Reserve in Botswana. The Reserve encompasses 3 000 km2 (1 158 square miles) of game-rich land along the eastern side of the renowned Okavango Delta. From lily-covered wetlands and vast floodplains to open grasslands and thick forests, this is one of Botswana's most beautiful wildlife sanctuaries.
Moremi Game Reserve was declared a national park in 1962 by the BaTawana people in order to protect the area from hunting. The Reserve was named after the Tawana chief Moremi and now supports a great diversity of wildlife, including buffalo, giraffe, lion, leopard, cheetah, elephant, hyena, jackal, impala, red lechwe, 500 bird species, and one of the largest populations of the endangered African wild dog. It is said that Moremi is home to 30% of all living African wild dogs.
