Day 1 - 2: Kasane to Chobe National Park
Your journey begins at Kasane Airport where you are met by your private &Beyond Expeditions guide who will accompany you throughout your adventure.
From Kasane it’s a short distance to the entrance of iconic Chobe National Park. Upon entering the park take a slow game viewing drive to the secluded private camp site where you spend the next two nights.
Bordered by the beautiful Chobe River to the north, Chobe National Park is home to thrilling action-packed wildlife interactions and the largest concentration of elephants in Africa. Other species such as the Chobe bushbuck, the rare puku antelope, sable and roan, red lechwe, buffalo, lion and leopard are encountered. One of Africa’s most sought after safari destinations the Chobe Riverfront is where elephants reign supreme. Watch these magnificent animals in awe as huge herds of up to 300 make their way down to the perennial waters of the mighty Chobe River to quench their thirst, bathe and just have fun rolling around in the mud. Watching the antics of the babies as they climb on top of each other and swing their trunks around in sheer enjoyment is so entertaining and provides great photographic opportunities.
Experience unforgettable game drives and private boat cruises on the Chobe River. Please note National Park regulations prohibit off road driving, night drives and walking.
Day 3 - 4: Chobe Riverfront to Savute
The next leg of your safari takes you south west to Savute in central Chobe National Park. Interspersed by rocky outcrops the wild and desolate landscape of Savute is characterised by the sweeping Savute Marsh and the unpredictable Savute Channel.
Regardless of the time of year Savute will never disappoint. When the summer rains start towards the end of November the barren earth of Savute comes alive. A vast grassland dotted with dead trees pointing skywards the Savute Marsh turns green and the pans fill up. Migrant birds swell Savute’s 300 resident species. The rich new grasses are a magnet for herds of Burchell’s zebra and wildebeest that assemble in a chaotic pattern on the Savute Marsh where they foal before making for the lush grazing grounds of the Mababe Depression further south. This is a time of plenty for the high concentration of lion, African wild dog, leopard and spotted hyena.
Two nights are spent camping. During the months of February to April your accommodation will change from the standard dome tent to a more spacious Meru-style tent (&Beyond Savute Under Canvas). Activities include game drives and a visit to the Bushman paintings. Please note National Park regulations prohibit off road driving, night drives and walking.
Day 5 - 6: Savute to Okavango Delta
After exploring the Savute, you will be whisked away on a flight to the glorious Okavango Delta where you spend two nights camping. Situated on a private concession, on the banks of a seasonal waterway overlooking the celebrated Moremi Game Reserve, you will be spoilt for choice at the assortment of excellent wildlife sightings in the area. This particular region of the Delta offers some of the best wildlife encounters where you can see lion, leopard, African wild dog, kudu, elephant, semi-aquatic lechwe, hippo and giraffe. Adventures include game drives and bush walks.
Day 7 - 8: Okavango Delta
This morning hop aboard the light aircraft that will fly you into the famous Nxabega concession in the heart of the Okavango Delta. Spend the next two nights camping at the beautiful Nxabega Trails Camp. Here you will experience the irresistible combination of water and wildlife on game drives, nature walks on pristine islands, mokoro trails, catch and release fishing and exceptional birding. The insight and knowledge of your guide will add immeasurably to your enjoyment and understanding of this unique wilderness area. Please note that the water based activities are seasonal.
Day 9: Okavango Delta to Maun
Today, your guide will accompany you to Maun where you bid him a fond farewell as you prepare to board your homeward bound flight.
